The Archaeology of Identity

My path as an artist began not with dolls or tea sets, but with a primal need for books, paper, and coloured pencils. My father nurtured that early spark, and after his sudden passing when I was five, art became the way I navigated the space his absence left behind. In the quiet shade of a hibiscus fence in Trinidad, I spent hours observing how floral colours bled into shadows. Pressing flowers into paper became my first intuitive attempt to capture the “quiet weight” of a changing world. Moving to Canada at 13 with my family art remained a constant in my life. After many years, I am now taking the next step as a full time artist.
